Course Overview

Watering plumeria well is not about memorizing a number of days between waterings. It is about learning how the plant, root zone, container, weather, and season work together. A plumeria can need deep watering during active growth, yet need very little water during cool weather or dormancy. The same plant can dry quickly in a warm, windy week and stay wet too long after several cloudy days.

This course teaches watering as an observation-first decision. Students will learn to check the growing media, read plant cues, understand how containers change drying speed, and adjust for heat, humidity, wind, rain, and seasonal slowdown. The goal is not to make watering complicated. The goal is to make watering dependable.

The central idea is simple: plumeria roots need moisture, but they also need oxygen. Watering should wet the root zone thoroughly when the plant is ready, then allow the media to regain air before the next watering. When students understand that cycle, they are less likely to overwater from habit or underwater from fear.

Course outcomes:

  • Explain why plumeria roots need both moisture and oxygen.
  • Decide when to water by checking plant, media, and weather signals together.
  • Recognize common watering mistakes before they become serious problems.
  • Adjust watering during heat, humidity, rain, cool weather, and dormancy.
  • Build a simple watering routine that can change as the plant changes.
